SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation), the first South African broadcasting group, and Siemens have joined together to experience the live transmission of a radio broadcast using wireless technology WiMAX.
A pilot transmission was achieved at the football game between the clubs Manchester City and Kaizer Chiefs held in Durban last July. The objective was to study the viability of a transmission between stage and production center. The team SABC / Siemens will continue its research on technology and WiMAX transmissions if the success at the Durban match is confirmed, the team is considering a permanent installation.
