 Since the release and success of the film Avatar in 3D throughout the world, the television industry turns literally to 3D for the general public. SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation), the first South African broadcasting group, and Siemens have joined together to experience the live transmission of a radio broadcast using wireless technology WiMAX.
A pilot transmission was achieved at the football game between the clubs Manchester City and Kaizer Chiefs held in Durban last July. The objective was to study the viability of a transmission between stage and production center. The team SABC / Siemens will continue its research on technology and WiMAX transmissions if the success at the Durban match is confirmed, the team is considering a permanent installation.
