Pierre Olivier has developed an innovative digital photo album, the PicView for people unfamiliar with the tools. This system allows you to browse images as simply a classic album.
There are in the market for digital frames that can allow scrolling images, but the PicView has many more features. Finally, being equipped with a PC motherboard, PicView prefigures the computer console of the future to replace the PC and finally bridge the digital divide.
The development of the digital photo album brought together a consortium of several partners:
- PCB Engineering has developed the specific interfaces needed, especially that over the album, the product could be associated with a scanner, be used as a games console …
- The Center of Excellence in Information Technology and Communication (CETIC) was responsible for developing a software tool that allows many functions: management of photo albums, photo annotations, introduction of signs on the images, zoom and audio, all handled very intuitive and simple.
- Sirrs was involved in the packaging of the entire device. The housing should include a screen, electronic charts, the specific inputs and outputs of the connected. In a compact and lightweight, the size of a conventional photo album.
Attractive and functional product, a first feasibility prototype was manufactured by powder sintering polyamide taking into account the geometry of components, possible interference between them, ergonomics and aesthetics of the case.
A demonstration prototype was built and finished by sanding and applying varnish. A concept of interchangeable handles allows to decline a range of different aspects from the same case. To get closer to closer to the final ergonomics, a soft touch coating was applied on the handles to give a sensation of touch warmer and more elastic. The manufacture of this prototype has allowed both to test PicView with the elderly, and secondly, to present a credible potential partners.
